What is the process for restoring our floors?
Here at William Beard Flooring we often get asked What is the process for restoring our floors? Well it’s very simple.
Step 1: Floor Assessment
The very first step to restoring floors is to do an initial floor assessment, this is to help us to determine whether there is need to complete any repairs. We look for minor scratched or something more serious so we know what we are dealing with and what you would benefit from. If there are not repairs we can just go straight in and remove the stains.
Step 2: Cleaning Wood Floors
We always sweep the floors after rolling out restoration work, we do this to make sure that their is nothing on the floor which could cause scratches and problems during the buffing stage.
Step 3: Floor Sanding
This step is all about sanding the floor with our sanding machines to removes scratches and wear and tear on the floor.
Step 4: Clean Up
Once the floor sanding process has been done we do a final cleaning prep which is for sealing the floor.
Step 5: Sealing The Floor
Sealing the floor creates a nice finished look to the wood but also help protect the flooring too. This step isn’t always required but if your floor doesn’t seem to absorb the stain we apply we go in and apply sealant.
Step 8: Finishing Touches
This is the final step to completing restoring wooden floors. What we do is apply a couple of thin coats of stain or oil.
